La \u201cSala di Plutone e Proserpina\u201d, camera di Laura della Corgna, sorella di Ascanio, \u00e8 decorata dalle scene relative al mito di Proserpina:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Proserpina, era una splendida fanciulla nel mito greco chiamata Persefone, era figlia di Cerere e di Giove, Cerere rappresenta la madre Terra ed \u00e8 la Dea che seminava, innaffiava le piante e faceva s\u00ec che gli alberi fiorissero mettendo sempre frutti. Tra gli Dei, per\u00f2, c’era Plutone, in greco Ade, Dio dei morti, il quale regnava sotto terra, al freddo e al buio.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Una sera Proserpina mentre raccoglieva fiori sulle rive del lago, fu rapita da Plutone e trascinata sulla sua biga. e portata nel regno dei morti. E l\u00ec divenne la sua sposa e regina degli Inferi. Cerere, non trovando la figlia, cominci\u00f2 a cercarla per mare e per terra, ma non la trov\u00f2. Allora, disperata, decise che finch\u00e9 la figlia non fosse tornata, tutto si sarebbe seccato. Giove, per scongiurare la fine del mondo, scopr\u00ec dove si trovava la fanciulla e stabil\u00ec che se non avesse mangiato nulla nel regno degli inferi, sarebbe potuta tornare dalla madre.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cerere scese nell\u2019Ade ma scopr\u00ec che la figlia aveva mangiato sette chicchi di melograno. Accecata dal dolore, minacci\u00f2 di impedire la vita sulla terra. Fu cos\u00ec che Giove trov\u00f2 una soluzione: per sei mesi Proserpina sarebbe tornata alla luce del sole per stare con la madre, per sei mesi sarebbe tornata nell\u2019Ade come sposa di Plutone.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nacque cos\u00ec il mito delle stagioni. Nella figura di Cerere, dea della fertilit\u00e0, si celebra Laura che, avendo partorito Diomede, figlio adottivo di Ascanio, ha permesso la continuit\u00e0 dinastica della famiglia della Corgna<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ‘Hall of Pluto and Proserpina,’ the chamber of Laura della Corgna, sister of Ascanio, is decorated with scenes related to the myth of Proserpina:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Proserpina, a beautiful maiden in Greek mythology known as Persephone, was the daughter of Ceres and Jupiter. Ceres represents Mother Earth and is the goddess who sowed seeds, watered plants, and ensured that trees blossomed and bore fruit. Among the gods, however, was Pluto, known as Hades in Greek, the god of the dead, who reigned underground, in the cold and darkness.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One evening, while Proserpina was gathering flowers on the shores of the lake, she was abducted by Pluto, dragged onto his chariot, and taken to the realm of the dead. There, she became his wife and queen of the Underworld. Ceres, unable to find her daughter, began to search for her by sea and land, but to no avail. Desperate, she decided that until her daughter returned, everything would wither. To prevent the end of the world, Jupiter discovered where the maiden was and decreed that if she had not eaten anything in the underworld, she could return to her mother.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ceres descended to the underworld but discovered that her daughter had eaten seven pomegranate seeds. Blinded by grief, she threatened to stop life on earth. Jupiter then found a solution: for six months, Proserpina would return to the light of the sun to be with her mother, and for six months, she would return to the underworld as Pluto\u2019s wife.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thus, the myth of the seasons was born. In the figure of Ceres, the goddess of fertility, Laura is celebrated, who, having given birth to Diomede, the adopted son of Ascanio, ensured the dynastic continuity of the della Corgna family.<\/strong><\/p>\n
